The countdown is under way for one of the biggest cultural events in Dundee. The annual degree show at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design is expected to attract around 10,000 visitors and boost the city’s economy by £1.5 million.

Works by almost 300 students will be on display and the college’s newly-appointed dean, Professor Tom Inns, is hoping to make this the best show yet.

He said, “Visitors to this year’s degree show will be viewing work from some of the UK’s top art and design graduates, who amassed dozens of national and international prizes during their time here.

“Every one of them is a key part of our ever-growing network of art and design expertise and the annual degree show at DJCAD showcases the remarkable talent and creativity of students from a wide range of disciplines.

“I am immensely proud to be dean of the creative hub at the heart of Dundee University and I know that visitors this year will be hugely impressed by students who continue to challenge convention and create wonderful work.”

The students will have a chance to show off their works to their families and other invited guests at a preview evening before the show is opened to the public.

The college, which has been rated one of the top four art schools in the UK, will open both its Perth Road buildings. Admission is free and the exhibition runs from May 21 to May 29 from 10am to 8pm Monday to Friday and 10am to 4pm at weekends.
