MORE THAN a fifth of holidays abroad are booked at the workplace, according to a survey.
Just 4% of those who have been away recently booked their trip at a high street travel agency, the poll found.
As many as 21% sorted out their holiday arrangements during their company’s time, the survey from travel agent sunshine.co.uk found.
Many (42%) of the trips were booked at home, with 17% making their getaway arrangements at the home of a friend or relative.
Also, 11% of bookings were made “on the move” according to the survey of 2,107 UK adults, each of whom had been abroad in the last six months and who had been responsible for the booking.
Of those booking up at work, the average spent sorting out arrangement was two hours.
Chris Clarkson of sunshine.co.uk, said: “We’ve always wondered if the bookings we receive in what would typically be working hours were made by people at home or those at work who were supposed to be doing what they were paid for.
“To see that a fifth of holidays are booked in the workplace was a big surprise.
“Clearly, employees in the UK are taking liberties when it comes to their working hours and the access they have to the internet. My advice is to always book holidays in your own time.”
