Ryan Dow is hoping his patience will be rewarded by manager Peter Houston handing him the chance to help shoot Dundee United into Europe.
Along with a string of other players, the Tannadice striker has been left on the fringes of the first team as the Tangerines have gone on a tremendous unbeaten run that has teed them up for the season finale.
With Houston hinting he will be using all the resources at his disposal in the remaining set of fixtures first up is a trip to face St Johnstone on April 21 Dow is optimistic that he will get his opportunity.
”The boys had been on a good run before losing that match up at Aberdeen and when a team has won six league games in a row it is hard to complain about not being in the side,” he said.
”I have been patient, as have a few of the other lads, but hopefully I can get a chance to show what I can do sooner rather than later. There is a group of us waiting for a chance myself, Richie Ryan, Barry Douglas and Keith Watson to name but a few.
”Everyone has been doing well in training but have missed out because the team had been on such a great run. But we will need everyone to help out in the weeks ahead. The whole squad will probably be called upon at some stage.
”So it is a waiting game and when you get your chance you have to take it.”
With Celtic having wrapped up the SPL championship, the top-six focus will be on the qualification for continental competition.
”The fight for European places is between us, Hearts, St Johnstone and Motherwell and maybe the focus will be more on us now that the title has been won,” Dow added.
”It should be exciting. I thing every one of our five remaining games will count for something.”
