New signing Jordan Halsman in his Motherwell days.

Cowdenbeath boss Jimmy Nicholl has moved to strengthen his squad ahead of tomorrow’s trip to Ibrox by signing former Motherwell full back Jordan Halsman.

Halsman, who can either play in the left of defence as an old fashioned wing back or as a left midfielder, had most recently been plying his trade in Iceland with Breidablik and made seven appearances for the club.

However, the 23-year-old has made the switch back to Scotland by signing a deal at Central Park and club officials are hoping to get the necessary paperwork completed so he can join the squad for this weekend’s game against Rangers.

Nicholl said: “He’s been around the club for a wee while now and we were just waiting for an opportunity to bring him in, so we’ve done that now.

“His fitness levels are really good and we’re hoping we can get him into the squad for Saturday.”

Halsman, who came through the youth ranks at Aberdeen and then Motherwell, started his career at Fir Park and, following loan spells at Annan, Dumbarton and Albion Rovers, moved to Morton for a season.

It was in 2013 that he made the move to Iceland, firstly joining Fram Reykjavik for a season before moving on to his last club.
