Scotland's Scott Brown (right) celebrates with Grant Hanley at full-time.

The feel-good factor generated by Scotland under manager Gordon Strachan increased once again after Saturday’s convincing victory over Georgia.

Those soaring levels of confidence in and around the national team have also seen a significant rise in expectation levels.

That is something centre-half Grant Hanley insists the players simply have to deal with.

When asked if the new expectation was difficult to handle, he said: “I think so but we try not to get involved in that.

“We try to play our game. We know the way we want to play and we know it can be successful.

“That’s the main aim for us and to keep focused going into games.

“There is always pressure no matter what team or what game it is. As players, it is your job to handle that.

“I think the last 18 months, the performances have been brilliant if not always the results.

“But most of the time, if you get the performances right, the results will follow.”

Hanley admitted that Saturday’s win and the manner of the victory was extremely pleasing, as was helping the defence record a clean sheet.

Now, he insists, the Scotland players will approach Tuesday’s tricky tie in Poland with confidence.

He said: “It was a brilliant three points especially after the performance in Germany.

“To come back to Scotland and put on a display that was equally as good and get the win, then it is a fine start.

“As a defender, a clean sheet is always the target so to get that and the three points is brilliant.

“It was only 1-0 but I think it was a really convincing win because of the way the boys played.

“Georgia were always going to make it difficult for us. They sat in and tried to defend.

“But I think we can take confidence from the victory into Tuesday’s game. Our away form is good at the moment so we are looking forward to it.”

When asked if securing a point would be a good result in Poland, he admitted: “It is difficult to say but after our result against Georgia, we have a lot of confidence so we will try to produce another good performance and who knows what will happen.

“With a wee bit of luck, we will not be far off.

“We are playing with no fear. We are playing our own game and that’s the positive thing about it.”
