Forfar manager Dick Campbell will hand one of his title-winning under-20 side a debut in tonight’s Championship play-off first leg.
The Station Park boss has already decided who will be in his starting line-up for the clash with Stranraer, and teenage defender Michael Kennedy is one of the 11.
The 18-year-old will replace suspended Michael Dunlop.
“What a game to make your debut in,” Campbell admitted.
“Young Michael will be fearless, though.
“He’s one of a few in our under-20s who we’ve got high hopes for. He’s got a real chance.
“He’s been on the bench a few times and he deserves his chance.”
Campbell made no attempt to pretend that his players weren’t devastated after the final day heartbreak of failing to clinch the League One title.
But he is confident that the period of mourning is over.
“The boys were gutted after the game,” Campbell said.
“At one point we were winning and Morton were losing but everything changed in a short space of time. That’s what can happen in this game.
“But footballers are resilient.
“We had a laugh in training last night and we’re looking forward to the play-offs now. Nobody’s feeling sorry for themselves.”
Stranraer have also had to deal with the deflation of missing out on promotion on the last day of the regular season.
“Ourselves and Stranraer have been up there pretty much the whole year,” Campbell said.
“We’ve had four close games against them and I’m sure this will be another one.
“We’d have been happy to make the play-offs at the start of the season and we’ll give it our best shot.”
Derek Young is on contention to make the bench this evening.
