East Fife have nothing to lose against Motherwell

East Fife are under no pressure to do anything spectacular against the Premiership Motherwell tonight according to manager Gary Naysmith.

Out of the two teams, the Methil men’s has been the best, but Naysmith stressed: “All I can ask the boys to do is to play to the high standard they are capable of.

“If you look at the League Two table you will see six teams stuck together on six points and that gives you an indication on how competitive every league game will be this season.

“The Motherwell game is different as it is a match that the players can actually go out and enjoy.

“There is no expectation that we will win so we can simply look to play as well as we can and see where that takes us. I will send a team out to win the game however the pressure is on Motherwell to win and not us.”

Naysmith is pleased with his side’s form ahead of facing the Fir Park side.

He added: “We have been bounced back really well from losing on the opening day to East Stirling.

“We were fantastic against Berwick when we won 5-0 and whilst we were not as good against Elgin on the weekend we still created chances and did enough to win 2-1.”

Stevie Campbell is unlikely to be risked but Naysmith is hoping that St Johnstone will allow on-loan defender Jason Kerr to be involved.

He said: “I am still waiting for an answer back on that one. They never allowed Jason to play when we defeated Dumbarton in the last round and they are quite within their rights to do that.

“However the fact that we are playing a Premiership side may tempt them to allow us to use him.”
