Montrose boss Stuart Garden is confident there will be no festive fatigue for his players when they face Berwick Rangers this afternoon.
Today’s game will be the Links Park side’s third in seven days.
Add to the mix the fact the part-timers had to play the last 20 minutes of their Saturday match at East Stirling with 10 men, and it would be excusable if their exertions were beginning to take their toll.
Garden said his men will be in prime condition for the Berwick clash though.
He explained: “We trained on Monday night and the boys did very well. I’m not worried about tiredness.
“Before this spell of fixtures they had five or six days off.”
The fact that Montrose are going into the match in good spirits after holding on for a point at the weekend will help the cause.
He noted: “It wasn’t an easy shift. The boys were up against it for the last 15 or 20 minutes and they showed great attitude and commitment.
“That’s exactly what you want to see as a manager.”
Terry Masson, who was red carded, is banned, but everybody else who was available on Saturday is fit again today.
Garden expects a tight contest for obvious reasons.
“We’ve already had two 1-1 draws this season,” he said. “I’m sure there will be nothing in this one either.
“But if we pick up where we left off on Saturday I’m confident we can get a good result.”
