Montrose boss Paul Hegarty is leaving no stone unturned as he bids to successfully negotiate the pyramid play-offs and ensure his side’s SPFL survival.
The Gable Endies face a make-or-break two-leg tie next month against the winners of the play-off between Edinburgh City and Brora Rangers.
The two teams meet in the first leg this weekend in the capital and Hegarty had originally considered either going to watch on a spying mission himself or to send assistant John Holt.
However, he has now decided that they would be better employed overseeing tomorrow’s home league game against Clyde and instead has sent not one but two “reliable” people to compile dossiers on City and Rangers.
He said: “I had thought about either going to watch the game myself or John Holt could have gone but we decided it was more important to get our own house in order so we will both be in the dug-out for Saturday’s game against Clyde.
“However, I will have two reliable people I really trust watching the play-off first leg.
“It is difficult to assess two teams on your own which why we are doubling up.
“So we are doing our homework to give our players as much information as possible in what is a unique situation.”
