Brechin forward Bobby Barr insists that City’s promotion bandwagon shows no signs of stopping ahead of their clash with Stenhousemuir.
In one of the tightest title races in years, Ray McKinnon’s men have been the epitome of consistency of late and have managed to string together an incredible 14 game unbeaten run.
That has taken them to fourth in the table and just four points off leaders Stranraer with a game in hand, while their 1-0 success over Dunfermline on Tuesday night gave them a cushion in their bid to secure at least a play-off spot.
Confidence is therefore huge in the City camp heading into this afternoon’s game at Glebe Park, and Barr believes his team are in with a real shout of Championship football next term.
He told Courier Sport: “We’re undefeated in the league in 14 and one defeat in 17 against a full-time team in Falkirk so we’re not afraid of anybody.
“Every game is massive for us.
“That’s 12 games that are left now and we’re right in the mix.
“Our target is just to get in that top four and anything else would be a great achievement.
“We’re just trying to win every game we can.
“But that’s us won our game in hand in midweek and we’ve managed to drag some points back on Morton, Forfar and Stranraer.
“I think we’ve got three home games coming up now and we’re confident of getting a result against anybody.
“Earlier in the season we were drawing a lot of games, but now we’re grinding out a lot of results.
“The back four have been different class, throwing their bodies in to make challenges, and we’re winning, so we just want to keep the run going as long as we can and see where it takes us.”
Barr added that their excellent victory at East End Park in midweek proves how seriously City should be taken as promotion challengers.
“We went to Dunfermline, showed them respect, but we wanted to go out and win and we matched them,” he explained.
“It was a great result for us and everybody was different class.
“Everybody knocked their pans in and I think we deserved to win.
“The pressure was always on Dunfermline because they were behind us in the table.
“They are full-time and they should be up there with Morton but they’re not.”
Boss Ray McKinnon should have no fresh injury worries for this afternoon’s fixture.
