Raith Rovers chief executive Eric Drysdale admits the club face even greater financial challenges next season but there have been no discussions at boardroom level about the possibility of the Championship side going part-time.
The Kirkcaldy outfit have all but cemented their place in the fourth promotion play-off spot in this the first season under manager Ray McKinnon’s stewardship.
However, the success on the pitch has not been reflected off it with crowds down at Stark’s Park.
McKinnon is already working on a shoestring budget and that could be reduced even further next season as Rangers and their huge support will be back in the Premiership.
Drysdale is fully aware of the financial reality facing Rovers but he insists they will remain full-time.
He said: “We are well ahead with our plans for next season and have signed a lot of players already.
“We are in discussions with others.
“We are pretty sure that the budget we are operating under is the smallest full-time one in British football.
“The manager is doing wonders on the budget but the reality is that there is little difference between the bottom tier of full-time football and part-time.
“Next season will once again be challenging financially as we will almost certainly not have Rangers in the Championship as well as Hibs possibly.
“Finances will be even tighter but we will cut our cloth accordingly there have been no discussions about going down the part-time route.”
