Raith Rovers boss Ray McKinnon has received a boost with the news that Lewis Toshney’s leg knock is not as serious as first feared and the defender should be available for Saturday’s crunch clash with Hibs at Stark’s Park.
The former Scotland Under-21 centre-half had to come off at half-time during the weekend victory over Alloa at the Indodrill Stadium that kept the Kirkcaldy side second top in the Championship.
However, McKinnon expects him to return against Alan Stubbs’ side and there is further good news over another injury victim, Ross Callachan.
The midfielder dislocated his shoulder in a freak accident back in August but is now edging closer to a comeback.
McKinnon said last night: “I was delighted to get another win on Saturday.
“We could have been ahead before Grant Anderson scored the winner with big Jon Daly having a couple of good chances.
“But it was just good to pick up another three points at a difficult place to go to. I had told the players these are the sort of tricky games that we must win and they did the business.
“Lewis Toshney had to come off at half-time after receiving a painful kick on his leg however he was feeling a lot better today and should be OK for the game on Saturday against Hibs.
“Ross Callachan is also raring to go again and is back in full training.
“He would probably have played for the Under-20s tonight but he is still waiting for a final test on his shoulder before receiving the all-clear and hopefully that will be completed soon.
“Craig Barr was another who was pencilled in for the Under-20s but unfortunately he is feeling his groin and won’t be risked.”
