Gavin Swankie has signed a new one-year deal with Arbroath, despite a last-minute offer from Livingston.
The first division new boys gave the former Dundee and St Johnstone man a chance to return to full-time football, but he knocked it back to stay with the Red Lichties.
Had Swankie waited for Falkirk to offload some more players there could also have been the chance of a move there.
Boss Paul Sheerin was understandably thrilled that last season’s third division player of the year has decided the grass isn’t greener elsewhere.
He said, “Livingston offered him terms but there were a few things he had to weigh up, like the travelling, and he didn’t feel it was right for him.
“It’s worked out perfectly for Arbroath because he’s been a massive player for us.”
