Dundee have announced that they have parted company with club captain Kevin Thomson.
The former Scotland, Hibs, Middlesbrough and Rangers midfielder has only made 12 appearances for the Dark Blues this season with his participation being restricted by injury.
However, he came off the bench to feature for Paul Hartley’s side as recently as the January 2 derby game with Dundee United and when fit, was one of the club’s most influential players.
He has now left Dens though with an official statement reading: “Dundee Football Club can today confirm that Kevin Thomson has left the club by mutual consent.
“Kevin has been with Dundee FC since the summer of 2014 and made 38 appearances over the past 18 months for The Dee.
“His final match came against Dundee United on January 2nd as a second-half substitute in the 2-1 victory.
“We would like to thank Kevin for his contribution during his time at Dens and wish him all the best with the next stage of his career.”For more on this story, see Saturday’s Courier.
