Dundee United boss Jackie McNamara says he learned a lot about his squad during Saturday’s 6-2 defeat at Celtic Park.
The Tangerines players had carried out their new manager’s instructions pretty much to the letter in his first two games against Rangers and Hearts, but they were on different pages at Parkhead.
McNamara noted: “We spoke before the game about being brave on the ball and brave without the ball. I’m most disappointed with the goals we lost. They were quite soft. Two of them were from corners.
“There was a wee bit of acceptance about a couple of our lads, which I wasn’t too happy about. I don’t think it was a case of them carving us open. The goal that angered me the most was when Stokes got the ball and was allowed to turn and get his shot away.
“There’s got to be better communication. Some of the back four were like individuals and wanting the game to finish rather than concentrating on their job and making sure we gave nothing away.
“I learned quite a lot. To be honest I knew before we came in that there were certain things we’d need to work on.”
Celtic boss Neil Lennon couldn’t have been happier with his team.
He stated: “That was one of our best performances at home and I think we’ve reaffirmed our position as the best team in the country.”
