Dundee Stars returned to training on Wednesday after celebrating their Gardiner Conference success.

But team bosses warned there will be no let up as the Tayside team aim to secure a top-four finish in the Elite League.

Several players are suffering knocks but most will have benefited from the two days off following Sunday’s win.

The focus has now turned to this weekend’s home double-header against two teams fighting to secure a top-eight finish and to qualify for the end-of-season play-offs.

Hull Stingrays arrive at the Dundee Ice Arena on Saturday followed by Fife Flyers.

Doug Christiansen, Dundee’s bench coach, said: “These are two teams that are battling to make the play-offs.

“They want points and I know how hard it is, having been player/coach in Edinburgh trying to make the play-offs.”

“However, Dundee’s player/coach Jeff Hutchins and the squad have put a lot of effort into this season so far.

“They want to win games now and keep momentum up going into the play-offs.”

He added: “Dundee have achieved one of their goals so far, winning the Conference. I know how hard that is to achieve having won it in Belfast.

“It is over 32 games and that’s tough. Dundee have had some success in winning a major trophy for the first time in the club’s history.

“Now Jeff wants to push on and make the top four that is why we will not be letting up and will be going for two wins at the weekend.”
