Great Britain’S Elena Baltacha made a winning return to the tennis tour following injury as she reached the second round of the Brussels Open.
The Scot was given a tough test before beating Stefanie Voegele of Switzerland in two sets.
The first went the distance after one break of serve apiece and the tie-break proved a hard-fought affair, Baltacha eventually winning it 11-9.
She was broken early in the second set and trailed 4-1 and 5-2, but then reeled off five successive games including two breaks of serve to win 7-6 (11-9) 7-5.
Baltacha is playing on a protected ranking, having been absent from the main tour since she suffered a foot injury at last summer’s Olympics.
Her first tournament back at any level was an ITF event in Pelham, United States, in April.
