A Fife youngster’s battle against leukaemia has inspired her nursery manager to make a bold or bald gesture of support.

Margaret Kinnell from the Daisychain Nursery in Kirkcaldy had her tresses cut off at a fundraising disco for four-year-old Agatha King.

Agatha touched local hearts when, upon being diagnosed with her illness, she had her head shaved to allow her hair to be used in wigs for other children affected by cancer.

The youngster, from Cupar, is being treated at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Edinburgh, where her own waist-long style was chopped in March.

On Sunday, at a fundraising disco at the Overton Mains Community Centre, it was Margaret’s turn to lose her locks, part of an afternoon that had attracted support from over 40 local businesses and raised in the region of £2,000.

Lynn Littwin from the Daisychain Nursery hailed her colleague’s gesture, saying: “She’s a very giving person everyone is completely in awe of her.

“Everybody is saying that she is very brave but Agatha and her family are the brave ones here.”
