More than 40 massive support beams have been lifted into place as the new Dundee railway station concourse take shape.
Weighing in at up to 18 tonnes each, the beams will support the new concourse and buildings over the main east coast line.
The railway station is one of the key features of Dundee’s hugely ambitious Waterfront project.
It had for many years been seen as one of the city centre’s most maligned buildings, but the council hopes that in future it will offer a suitable welcome to visitors.
Work is still on track for completion in early 2018.
City development convener, Will Dawson, said: “Anyone who has taken a train to or from the station in the past few weeks is bound to have seen for themselves the great progress being made on the new concourse and its associated hotel development.
“Within the past few weeks our contractors Balfour Beatty have been cracking on with the foundations for the development, completing substantial piling works in April.
“Recent good weather has been critical in keeping us on programme so that we can install the beams to the timetable agreed with Network Rail, which lets work over the tracks take place during the night.”
In total more than 500 tonnes of steel are being lifted into place by a giant mobile crane that picks the beams up in pairs to ensure stability.
At up to 38.5m long, the 46 beams are only part of the current phase of construction.
Alongside that, work on lift and escalator pits is also progressing well, as is that on the main building foundations.
