A Fife woman damaged her car as she drove home from a pub when drunk and then refused to answer her door to the police.

Kelly Kay, 38, of Letham Way, Dalgety Bay, appeared at Dunfermline Sheriff Court and admitted on April 7 at Letham Way she drove a car having consumed excess alcohol.

Her reading was 155 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. The legal reading is 50 milligrammes.

She also admitted she behaved in a threatening or abusive manner by refusing to answer the door to police officers, and that she shouted, swore and behaved aggressively.

Depute fiscal Jade Doig said Kay’s ex-partner had been watching at her home that night as she had gone for night out.

At 10.30pm he became aware of Kay arriving back home and parking in the driveway.

“He went outside and saw there was damage to the car and he became aware that she was intoxicated,” added the depute.

Her ex-partner contacted police and when officers arrived, Kay refused to answer the door, shouting abuse at them.

She then went upstairs and started shouting abuse out of a window.

Police forced their way into the property and Kay failed a breath test.

Sheriff James MacDonald imposed a community payback order with 14 months of supervision and 120 hours of unpaid work.

He also banned Kay from driving for 14 months.
