A Fife hotel customer asked for his bed to be placed on the beach for a session of blue sky thinking.

Travelodge has revealed the top 20 most interesting and bizarre requests that the company’s Scottish hotel teams have received during the last 12 months.

This year the hotel teams even encountered a few interesting requests around social distancing – including a customer at its Dundee city centre hotel asking if there was a face mask that would stop her husband from snoring.

Bagpipes upon arrival

Another guest at Strathmore Avenue in Dundee politely asked if a member of staff could spare the day to help trace their Scottish roots.

While a Glenrothes guest asked if the hotel could serenade his wife with bagpipes upon arrival to make her feel special as it is first time in Scotland.

Strange requests for beds to be relocated were a theme in Dunfermline – with one customer asking for his bed on the roof to watch the Northern Lights while another asked for a bed on the beach for a session of ‘blue sky thinking’.

Meanwhile a Perth Central customer queried the best time to see Morag in Loch Morar?

Relish a challenge

Travelodge’s spokesperson Shakila Ahmed said: “Annually we welcome millions of customers from all corners of the UK at our 575 UK hotels which includes 47 properties in Scotland.

Travelodge chief executive Peter Gowers

“Throughout the year, our hotel teams receive thousands of interesting requests from business and leisure guests.

“Where possible, our hotel teams will go above and beyond to help customers as they relish a good challenge.

“Interestingly the requests change regionally, seasonally and this year we have even received interesting requests around social distancing.

“However, there are some requests beyond their control such as: stopping the seagulls from squealing, identifying UFO hotspots and arranging a visit with Arthur at Arthur’s seat.”
