Go Dutch From Dundee!

Post Thumbnail

A popular city break destination, Amsterdam welcomes visitors from all over the world, year in year out but now this hotspot of the Netherlands can look forward to the great folk of Dundee arriving for some well-deserved R and R!

Earlier in the year we had the exciting news that Dundee would have its first ever international route and we could all be heading for budget breaks to the dazzling metropolis of Amsterdam.

If you’ve not tried out this great service yet, now’s the time to think about a well deserved break to enjoy the delights of the Dutch capital.

Rijk Museum Amsterdam

Amsterdam is a friendly European hotspot and it is jam packed with art, history, great food, top class tourist attractions and a real cosmopolitan vibe that hangs in the air along with the aroma of the street vendors delicacies.

The heart of the city is criss-crossed by canals and cobbled streets, and reminds me of a dainty chocolate box with its gaily-coloured houses.

Amsterdam canal boats

History buffs and art lovers will enjoy touring the fascinating museums and galleries but there’s also some great things happening in Amsterdam over the summer.

Here are some of the great events and attractions on offer if you fancy a sunshine break in this beautiful city:

  1. Appelsap Fresh Music Festival 13 August
  2. Vondelpark Open Air Theatre (June- September)
  3. De Parade Theatre Festival 12 – 28 August
  4. Grachtenfestival 12 – 28 August
  5. Comedytrain International Summer Festival 13 July – 6 August
  6. Mysteryland dance Festival 27-28 August
  7. Encore Festival 28 August
Amsterdam bike hire

If you simply want to soak up the atmosphere of Amsterdam, it’s really rather nice to park yourself in one of the many pavement cafes, enjoying a coffee or a beer and just be. People watching is one of my favourite pastimes and I love just watching the world go by.

Although in Amsterdam everyone is usually on a bike! The locals love to cycle so why not do the same and hire a bike for a few hours? An ideal way of working off those long lazy lunches!

Whatever you choose to do in Amsterdam, you’ll enjoy all this great city has to offer and with the great deals we have from talkholiday, it shouldn’t be too pricey, even if you do go Dutch!
