VIDEO: Manchester United squad in Broughty Ferry for meal at local restaurant

The Manchester United squad have made a surprise appearance at a Dundee restaurant tonight.

Manchester United stars arrive at Forgans in Broughty Ferry.

The team were seen exiting a bus in Broughty Ferry and entering Forgans, in Brook Street.

A crowd gathered as players emerged with masks on from the black coach.

Fans could be heard shouting on their favourite players, with Paul Pogba getting a rousing reception.

Locals were filming and photographing the stars as they entered the eatery.

One man said around 9.20pm: “They got a hell of a reception when they arrived. There’s still about 50 people here just now.

“The players went in more than an hour ago, so I think we’re expecting them coming out fairly soon.”

What did the stars have?

Menu choices by the stars suggested some could expect a tap on the shoulder from the club’s nutritionist.

Jesse Lingard, fresh from an impressive season on loan at West Ham, was suspect number one.

For starters, the attacker went for chicken tempura — typically battered and deep-fried.

And for his main he elected for a cheeseburger with absolutely no salad — described as “only cheese nothing else on it”.

He also threw in halloumi fries and mac and cheese as a side and finished his effort off with sticky toffee pudding.

Scotland star McTominay shuns dessert

Luke Shaw opted to keep it simple with ‘normal bread’ as a starter and cheeseburger, fries, and chips as his main.

Mason Greenwood showed he has a smaller appetite than most of the team by skipping both a starter and a dessert and going for a well-done fillet steak with halloumi fries.

Scotland midfielder Scott McTominay and Brazil international Fred meanwhile were one of the few others to shun a dessert.

Portugal maestro Bruno Fernandes and Spanish playmaker Juan Mata were the only players to opt for goat’s cheese for starter.

Solskjaer latest manager to use facilities

The side are in Tayside and Fife using the St Andrews University training facility.

Manchester United have arrived there to prepare for the start of their league season, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer the latest in a long line of managers who have made that choice.

The home of golf, elite football is now adding to the Fife coastal town’s sporting status.
