Watch Angus Council candidates answer your questions on parking charges, schools and troll councillors

We asked every party represented on Angus Council and at Holyrood to respond to your burning questions for the local election on May 5 – but not all of them wanted to take the challenge.

An empty chair was kept aside for administration leader David Fairweather, who had declined to take part because of “negative reporting”.

His partners in coalition, the Conservatives, were also unable to put up a single member of the current administration to discuss its record.

But other candidates did take part in this latest episode of our special election series covering each local authority in Courier Country.

Your questions for the Angus Council election candidates

In the Angus special, candidates discussed everything from parking charges to senior Conservative councillors being unmasked by The Courier as running anonymous anti-SNP troll accounts.

To help you make an informed decision at the ballot box, we put your questions to:

  • Beth Whiteside – SNP group leader
  • Ben Lawrie – Liberal Democrat councillor
  • Iain Gall  – Scottish Conservative candidate

You can find a full list of the candidates standing in Angus here.

We will have more election debates for each of the local authority areas we cover.
