Just chomp-ion: Jim Leishman helps judge World Scotch Pie Championship

Fife provost Jim Leishman could be forgiven for eating all the pies in Dunfermline.
The football legend tucked into some savoury snacks as one of the judges at the 14th World Scotch Pie Championship.
This year, a new category was introduced: the football ground pie.
Meaty treats from suppliers of football clubs were sampled, but it will not be revealed who is top of the league until the winners are announced on January 9.
Mr Leishman said judging brought back fond memories.
”The pie is a football icon. I can remember when I was younger, going to get a Bovril and a pie.
”It was great to see the variety of pies you can get now. Today there were 46 different tastes of pies and that was fantastic.
”It was very interesting. There were some I liked and some I didn’t like. I really enjoyed it.”
About 500 pastries from the upper crust of the food industry were submitted for sampling at Carnegie Conference Centre.
