T in the Park yet to respond to planning demand

TITP bosses want to stage the event at Strathallan from 2015.

T in the Park organisers have yet to submit an application for planning permission ahead of the event’s move to Strathallan.

Perth and Kinross Council confirmed it has not yet received “any indication” from DF Concerts about when the vital documentation will be submitted.

The music festival cannot go ahead at its new home next year without planning consent.

As previously reported by The Courier, the Scottish Government has demanded a full environmental impact assessment be carried out, due to the presence of nesting ospreys at the site.

A spokesperson from Perth and Kinross Council said: “As of today’s date, we have not received a proposal of application notice or a planning application for T in the Park to be held at Strathallan Castle, nor do we have any indication of when these will be submitted.

“However, as there is a requirement for an environmental impact assessment, as directed by Scottish ministers, T in the Park cannot go ahead at Strathallan Castle until planning consent has been granted.

“Notwithstanding the council’s support to retain the festival within the area, we take our responsibilities as a planning authority seriously and will consider any planning application from DF Concerts to hold T in the Park at Strathallan Castle on its own merits and in line with national planning guidance.”
