Dundee fans probably travelled to Pittodrie to face the league leaders with a wee bit of trepidation on Saturday, and who could blame them?
The Dons had strung together eight league wins on the spin without conceding a goal, while Paul Hartley headed north with a squad of just 18 fit players due to injuries and suspensions.
But what unfolded on Saturday was a cracking advert for Scottish football and proof that there’s still plenty of mileage left in one of the most exciting seasons in years.
Aberdeen were cruising early on and it looked like it was just a case of how many they would score, but the usually solid Dons defence crumbled as Dundee scored three brilliantly-worked goals either side of the break to leave the home side and their fans shell-shocked.
So the fact that Dundee then appeared to be cruising to victory themselves is probably the most galling thing about Saturday’s 3-3 draw for Paul Hartley and his men.
Still, it was a game that will live long in the memory and, on reflection, given the way the game went, it was an outcome that both sets of fans should be satisfied with.
