Dundee’s delights add up to instant city love affair for Carol Vorderman

Carol Vorderman has begun an instant love affair with Dundee.

The former Countdown star tweeted her early admiration for the area after arriving in the city where her son is due to begin masters studies in animation and video effects.

In July, Ms Vorderman said she was sure Cameron, who was born with the severest dyslexia, would find “heaven” with the move to study Animation and Video FX at Dundee University.

It appears the city’s magic has rubbed off early on the 59-year-old, who has made an early promise to pop into the waterfront V&A – and even extolled the virtues of Scottish water in her beauty regime.

On Monday morning, Ms Vorderman tweeted: “Good morning from Dundee…….it’s lovely here… a great city.”

She followed it up with another message to her 453,000 Twitter followers saying: “Washed my hair…it’s gone bushy….I like this Scottish water #DundeeObservation #StrongLocks.”

Fans have encouraged the celebrity, who is also a qualified pilot, to take in the city’s attractions, including the V&A which Vorderman said looked “amazing”.

She was also invited to enjoy the recently unveiled Dundee Windows project which has brought folklore, landmarks and architecture together in a scheme to brighten up vacant shop premises.

BBC weather presented Judith Ralston also delivered a welcome messsage to Ms Vorderman on the social media site.

Ms Vorderman, who has a weekly show on BBC Radio Wales, had revealed schools refused to accept her son Cameron King when he was as young as six because of his dyslexia and ADD.

He was bullied in mainstream schools but stuck determinedly to his dream of becoming a video games designer.

The proud mum proudly posted her son’s success in securing a first-class BA Honours degree in Animation, leading to the master’s move to Dundee.

“I didn’t realise but Dundee is a huge centre for video gaming. Grand Theft Auto began in Dundee.

“I think my boy will have found his heaven,” she said.
