Thousands of fans descended on Camperdown Park on Friday as Radio 1’s Big Weekend finally arrived in Dundee.
Around 80,000 people are expected to attend the three-day event that finishes on Sunday night.
A host of big names are appearing over the weekend, including Lewis Capaldi, The 1975 and Niall Horan.
Dance legend Pete Tong and DJ Jamie XX were among the acts kicking off the action on day one.
After months of anticipation, the sun split the sky as revellers arrived, with many making their way to Camperdown via shuttle buses leaving from Slessor Gardens at the Waterfront.

One fan, Niall Horan devotee Anais Slinan, even travelled 750 miles from France to be there.
The 24-year-old, from Reims, told us: “I’ve always wanted to visit Scotland as I’ve never been before, so I saw this as a good opportunity.”
Harry Fielding, 27, and Georgie Loveday, 23, embarked on a seven-and-a-half-hour journey from Dorset to make it to the City of Discovery.
Harry said: “It’s Georgie’s first time at a festival.
“We listen to Radio 1 all the time so that’s why we decided to get tickets.
“We’re excited to see Lewis Capaldi, Anne-Marie and Danny Howard.”
Kelsey Mailandt and Peter Cowan, both 29 and from Dundee and Aberdeen respectively, said the concert shutdown during Covid has made them appreciate live events.
Kelsey said: “We are not massive dance or techno fans but wanted to come out as this is on our doorstep.
“I think after Covid it’s a case of do everything you can!”

Radio 1’s presenting team were in good spirits as the festival got under way – with Katie Thistleton caught up in some football banter.
She asked fans to suggest Instagram picture captions for when the festival is over.
And, in a clip that has gone viral on Twitter, one cheeky Dundonian took aim at the fortunes of one of the city’s football giants.
The presenter said: “David says something along the lines of: ‘That weekend went down like Dundee United!”
“David, we’ve discussed this before, I don’t get any of the football references.
“I’m assuming that’s what that is.
“If they’ve gone down, been relegated, I’m sure that’s a good one if you’re a football fan.”

Manchester-born Katie, 34, also addressed questions about potential superstar cameos at Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Dundee.
Speaking on air on Friday, she said: “I’m flattered you think I have any influence on the music industry.
“There’s lots of this (speculation) going on. Some people are saying, what if Anne-Marie brings out Shania Twain?
“Others are saying, what if Niall [Horan] brings out Harry (Styles)? He’s playing Edinburgh on Friday and Saturday – maybe he’s got a little gap on Sunday.
“People are saying Beyoncé’s around. This is all very big talk, guys, I don’t want to get anyone’s hopes up…but you never know.”
Elsewhere, Greg James was spotted reading the Beano and later took to social media to call The Ship Inn in Elie, Fife, one of the “all-time great spots” after a visit with the breakfast show team earlier in the week.
Meanwhile, Radio 1 presenter and former Saturdays singer Mollie King told how it took her and co-host Matt Edmondson more than seven hours to get to Dundee from London – after they unexpectedly ended up in Arbroath.
As the pair slowly collected their luggage, thinking the City of Discovery was their last stop, the train left the platform for Angus.
After arriving at Camperdown on Friday, Mollie said: “So we’re here in Dundee.
“Train journey was a bit dramatic – that’s because we’re idiots!”
Conversation
