Two teens have appeared in court accused of carrying out a series of thefts and being involved in a violent struggle with police at a Dundee hotel.

Jaden Gray, 19, and a 17-year-old woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, are also accused of racially abusing a staff member at the Carlton Hotel, on Dalgleish Road, earlier this week.

Both appeared in Dundee Sheriff Court on Thursday accused of theft by housebreaking at the address on Tuesday, May 12. They are said to have taken foodstuff, and electrical and household items.

They are also accused of a violent struggle with police officers Jacqueline Paul and Gareth Jennings on Wednesday, May 13. Both are also alleged to have acted in a threatening or abusive manner to the constables on the same day.

The pair are also accused of acting in a racially aggravated manner to a person in the course of their employment at the hotel on Wednesday – and of shouting racist and offensive remarks, and swearing at them.

The woman is accused of assaulting PC Jennings by attempting to kick him on the head.

Gray, of Clepington Road, also faced a charge of being in possession of class-A drug diamorphine with “intent to supply to another”. He is also accused of being concerned in the supply of the drug.

The pair pleaded not guilty to all the charges they faced. They were granted bail.

A trial diet was set for November 10 with an intermediate diet fixed for October 21.
