A man has appeared in court accused of murdering a woman in her Perth home.
David Anderson is alleged to have strangled his girlfriend Louise O’Brien at their home on Dunkeld Road sometime between April 24 and 28.
The 36-year-old was found dead at the property last Thursday and Anderson is said to have murdered her by grabbing hold of her neck and compressing it.
Anderson was questioned in relation to the death before being arrested and charged on Sunday.
The 41-year-old, of Shields Place, Dunkeld Road, Perth, appeared from custody at Perth Sheriff Court on Tuesday and his case was heard in private before Sheriff William Wood.
He made no plea or declaration and the case was continued for further examination.
Solicitor David Sinclair made no motion for bail and Anderson was remanded in custody.
Emergency services attended Miss O’Brien’s home at around 9pm on Thursday.
Her neighbours said they were stunned by the discovery of her body.
She is understood to have lived in the first-floor property, which is just yards from Perth’s police headquarters, for a number of years.
Her neighbours described her as “full of fun”.
One man said: “Louise was always a good laugh and I’d meet up with her for a drink now and again.
“I’m not sure if she was working, but she used to be a barmaid.
“It’s just such a shame. Everyone is in complete shock.”
It’s understood Ms O’Brien was in a relationship with a man prior to her death.
Another local said: “She was a lovely woman. She always stopped to speak to you in the hallway, even when she was busy. Everybody loved her.”
Friends and relatives visited the flat throughout the day and passed bouquets of flowers to police to lay at Miss O’Brien’s front door.
