Police were alerted to the scene amid fears two men were carrying a hand gun. However, this turned out to be a BB gun. The incident unfolded at 11pm on Saturday at the Kingdom shopping centre area near to the bus station in the town centre. Police, including armed officers, rushed to the scene following reports from worried members of the public that the men had a hand gun. Armed police were seen by worried local residents in nearby streets, including Alexander Road.. A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said the two men, aged 20 and 26, were subsequently arrested by officers. She added the firearm, a BB gun, was seized by officers. “The 20-year-old man was charged in connection with the incident and is due to appear in Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court on Monday. “The 26-year-old man was released without charge,” she added. The spokeswoman added: “At no time was the gun deliberately brandished at members of the public.”
