Labour are expected to record their worst election result since before the Second World War.
If the exit poll is correct, they have dropped a massive 71 seats. The Tories on the other hand have picked up an extra 50.
Boris Johnson, who has always wanted to be Churchill, will have as large a majority as that other Tory grandee – Margaret Thatcher.
In Scotland the SNP are predicted to be winners in an astounding 55 seats, one short of their highest recorded tally in 2015.
Where this leaves continuing questions on the constitution is anyone’s guess – Boris Johnson has outright refused a second referendum, but 55 and a Scottish sea of yellow is going to be difficult to ignore.
Don’t expect independence to drop from our everyday vocabulary any time soon.

Jeremy Corbyn really should have no choice but to resign this morning. Former MPs have declared “Corbynism has been tested to destruction… the electorate are not wrong.”
First Minister Nicola Sturgeon is being more cautious – understandable given the sample size of Scotland’s exit poll –but maybe she is just being a good sport.
No exit poll has been more than 15 seats out about the number of MPs of the biggest group.
