A person has died after being hit by a train in Fife.
Police confirmed that someone has died after being hit by a train near Cupar Station on Thursday morning.
A spokesman for British Transport Police said: “A person has sadly died after they were struck by a train at Cupar Station this morning.
“Officers were called at 9.38am and attended alongside paramedics from the Scottish Ambulance Service.
“Efforts are now being made in order to identify the person and inform their next of kin.”
The spokesman said they were not able to confirm any further details of the individual involved.
ScotRail posted: “Sadly, due to a person being struck by a train between Cupar and Aberdeen, services between Dundee and Edinburgh will be cancelled and services between Aberdeen and Edinburgh will be diverted via Perth.”
A spokesman added: “Services between Aberdeen, Dundee and Edinburgh will be subject to delay or cancellation until further notice. We apologise to customers for any disruption to their journey, and understand their frustration.”
The line was cleared and services resumed around noon.
