Girlfriend’s collarbone broken in vicious Kinghorn caravan assault

An weekend break at a Fife caravan park turned sour when an enraged man battered his then-partner and left her with a broken collarbone.

Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court heard how Gary Burston, 28, assaulted his victim by pushing her off a bed and repeatedly punching and kicking her on the head at Kinghorn Harbour Holiday Park on August 25 last year.

Burston, of Hillend Road, Kirkintilloch, was angered when confronted by his then-girlfriend about his behaviour during a night out at local pubs.

Fiscal Ronnie Hay told the court Burston and his partner had been staying at the caravan park with two of their friends and left the caravan at around 8pm.

Burston is said to have taken cocaine and “barely spoke” to his partner, going on to drink more heavily and flirt with other women in a pub.

Burston then left the pub with another woman and returned around an hour later.

His partner challenged him about whether he was cheating on her and he left for a further two hours before returning to the caravan at around 2am and continuing the argument.

Burston pushed his victim off the bed and repeatedly kicked her on the face and body.

“The complainer was crying and screaming: ‘Stop and get off me’,” Mr Hay added.

Police and paramedics were called and the woman was treated for a fractured right clavicle.

Sheriff Jamie Gilchrist QC deferred sentence for the preparation of reports and continued bail.
