An Inchture woman has appeared at Dundee Sheriff Court accused of stealing dogs and committing credit card fraud.

Angela Newlands, 32, appeared in private on petition, accused of the theft of eight Cockapoo puppies at an address in Kirriemuir.

She is also alleged to have acted in a threatening and abusive manner, stolen a quantity of cash and pretended to be the owner of a number of cards between Aug 29 and September 7.

Newlands, of Green Julian Place, made no plea and will appear at court for further examination at a later date.

She was bailed, on special condition not to enter Neverland Park, Kirriemuir.

Cleared over underage sex charges

A 28-year-old Swedish woman who flew to Scotland to pursue a relationship with a 15-year-old boy she met online, has been cleared of criminal charges. Matilda Hogman was accused of repeatedly engaging in sexual intercourse with the teenager and repeatedly kissing him and touching him on the body at a Premier Inn at Dunfermline’s Fife Leisure Park. A jury found her not guilty of one charge and deemed the other not proven.

Matilda Hogman was accused of meeting the youngster for sex in a Dunfermline Premier Inn.

Nightmare neighbour

A nightmare tenant whose loud music kept his upstairs neighbour awake has been fined.

Police were called to Kaine Baxter’s Alyth flat after reports he had his stereo blasting in the early hours of April 21 2020.

The 24-year-old apologised to officers and turned the sound down but turned it back up moments after police left.

Perth Sheriff Court heard on Thursday he began banging on his ceiling and shouting abuse at the complainer upstairs.

Fiscal depute Elizabeth Hodgson said the neighbour then heard a knock on his door, but he decided not to answer as he was sure it was Baxter.

Police returned just before 3am and heard Baxter shouting at his neighbour: “You f***ing bastards”.

Baxter admitted behaving in a threatening or abusive manner, likely to cause fear or alarm, at his then-home in Victoria Street, Alyth.

He has since moved out to the town’s Springbank Road.

Unemployed Baxter was ordered to pay £450.

A teenager has appeared in court accused of causing serious injury to two schoolgirls in a horror smash on the A90 near Perth.

Robert Mill is alleged to have deliberately rammed a police car, before overturning while attempting to undertake a second police vehicle.

Two 14-year-old girls were seriously hurt in the smash on February 20 2021.

He denies all charges and will stand trial early next year.

Embezzlement charge

A woman has been charged with embezzling thousands of pounds from a Perthshire shed-building firm.

Alison Carlin is accused of taking more than £16,200 while working as office manager at Errol-based Gillies and Mackay.

It is alleged the 40-year-old embezzled the amount between January 31 2018 and July 29 2019 at the company’s East Inchmichael Farm.

Carlin, of Wicks O’ Baiglie Road, Bridge of Earn, was ordained to appear at Perth Sheriff Court on Friday.

But like all “non-essential” court business in light of the Queen’s death, the case was continued to a later date.

It was rescheduled for September 23.

Amazon voucher offer

Steven Riddell, 31, from Glenrothes admitting sending explicit images and videos of himself to a police officer posing as a 13-year-old girl and offering a £10 Amazon voucher for return pictures. He posed as a teenager on a chat site for youths but was snared by police who eventually raided his home.

The decoy was offered a £10 Amazon voucher for a nude picture.

Bail breacher

Drunken bail breacher James Stewart, 36, has been locked up after admitting haranguing his partner in Fife.

He appeared from custody at Dunfermline Sheriff Court to admit, at Lochgelly’s Russell Street, breaching bail by shouting into his partner’s window.

Fiscal depute Amy Robertson explained he was seen by neighbours shouting for five minutes before the woman came to the window and said: “Go away, you’ve caused enough trouble already.”

Stewart admitted he was subject to conditions imposed at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court on July 26 and at Dunfermline Sheriff Court on August 31 not to approach her.

Representing himself, Stewart said: “I’ve got a problem with alcohol.

“I messed up once again.

“I’m planning to get help with alcohol.

“I shouldn’t have done it. I’m trying my best.”

Sheriff David Hall remanded Stewart and deferred sentencing until September 28.

The sheriff said: “Hopefully you get help with the alcohol.

“I think you should have a little time off the drink.”
