A Kirkcaldy man posted a threatening video on social media about a kitchen renovation at his council house.

Roy Rodger, 53, of Brodick Road, admitted acting in a threatening or abusive manner.

At Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court, fiscal depute Laurelle Johnstone said he had been a tenant for 16 years at the property.

On a number of occasions between September 11 and 22 in 2021, he posted abusive messages online and an offensive video on social media.

Through these, he repeatedly swore, adopted an aggressive demeanour and made derogatory remarks.

He issued threats of violence to employees of Fife Council and painting and decorating firm Bell Group.

Reports were ordered and Rodger will return to be sentenced next month.

Paedophile jet-setter

A paedophile who jetted off on a family holiday without telling police he was leaving the country has been jailed. Paul Scally, 42, was spotted by a sex offender unit police officer in Edinburgh Airport as he went to to the Canary island resort Fuertaventura.

Paul Scally was jailed for his illegal sunshine break.

Carer’s cruelty

A Perthshire carer has admitted intimidating, disrupting and forcibly moving an autistic person he was responsible for.

David Williamson, 54, of Manse Road, Caputh, neglected the male between December 21 in 2020 and January 22 in 2021.

During that time, he held responsibility for the person while working as his carer.

However, he acted in an aggressive manner towards the male and spoke to him in an “intimidating and derogatory” way.

Williamson purposefully disrupted the male’s daily routines while looking after him and refused to give him water when he requested it.

Court papers state Williamson also proceeded to issuing medication before exhausting other methods available to him and used more force than was appropriate when moving the male.

The abuse was all carried out at a domestic home in Tullibody, Clackmannanshire.

Williamson was not present at Alloa Sheriff Court when his letter pleading guilty to ill-treating or wilfully neglecting the person in his care was accepted.

Sheriff Neil Bowie deferred sentence until February 16 for Williamson to be personally present.

‘Bored as f**k’

Two men who barricaded themselves inside a Cowdenbeath flat for four hours told police they were doing it because they were “bored as “f**k”. Stuart Graham and Grant Pithie hurled glass bottles, cups, plates and a metal saucepan from a first-floor flat window during the siege at Copeland Crescent.

Footballer attack

A footballer viciously attacked his partner at a Kirkcaldy night spot, before turning on police.

Scott Mason, of Pinkie Road, Musselburgh, admitted injuring his partner at Society on August 14 last year.

The 33-year-old struck the woman on the face, then pinned her against a fence on Nether Street in the town.

He then repeatedly punched her on the head and seized her by the face before pushing her to the ground.

When police arrived, he kicked one officer on the body, then behaved abusively at the local station, shouting, swearing and making racial remarks.

Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court heard Mason has been subject to a bail curfew since first appearing five and a half months ago.

His solicitor asked for this to be dropped as Mason has been invited to play with East of Scotland League Second Division side Hawick Royal Albert and would require to train with them in evenings.

Sheriff Alison McKay granted the motion and ordered reports ahead of sentencing on February 17.

Deals-on wheels

A dealer who operated a drugs-on-wheels service in Perth was caught with nearly £4,000 of cocaine and cash stuffed in his underpants. Police uncovered wads of banknotes, bags of cocaine, electronic scales and other paraphernalia when they pulled over 25-year-old Matthew Dewar’s Audi S3 in the city’s Oakbank area.

Matthew Dewar appeared at Perth Sheriff Court.

Home trashed over £40 debt

A man trashed the home of a Kirkcaldy woman because he believed she stole £40 from him.

Craig Bailey slashed sofa cushions and damaged a television.

Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court heard the householder was out when she started receiving abusive text messages from Bailey, who was staying at the house.

Fiscal depute Catharine Stevenson said they included,  “c**t, stealing 40 bar lol”, “Keep it, I’ll be gone by morning” and “if you wanted your house to stay safe you shouldn’t have stolen off me.”

Ms Stevenson said the complainer returned home and the front door was open.

“She observed the smashed glass of a mirror on the floor.

“There was paint all over the locus and her bed sheets were slashed by a knife.

“Kettle cables were cut and her tv had two large holes.

“Her couch and cushions were slashed as well.”

The damage was estimated at £1,210.

Solicitor David Bell, defending, said the 26-year-old believed the money, from his parents, was missing and “he put two and two together” and blamed the complainer.

Bailey, of Floors Place, Kirkcaldy admitted behaving in a threatening and abusive manner on March 28 last year.

Calling it a “horrible offence”, Sheriff Maryam Labaki ordered him to pay £500 compensation and carry out 200 hours of unpaid work.

Dopey dealer

An Angus cannabis dealer’s home was raided by police looking for drugs he picked up just hours earlier. Carnoustie cannabis dealer Cameron Laidlaw, 26, admitted being concerned in the supply of the Class B drug at Dundee Street.

Cameron Laidlaw leaves Forfar Sheriff Court.

Rebel songs

A Perth man who launched into an IRA rant in the back of a police van, after being arrested for blasting out Irish rebel songs in the early hours of the morning, has been given another chance to avoid jail.

Officers were called to Ewan Grant’s flat in Drummond Crescent following complaints from neighbours about loud music.

As he was transported to Dundee police station, Grant chanted pro-IRA verse “ooh ah, up the ‘RA” and told officers they were “a bunch of paedophiles employed by the Queen.”

Following a trial at Perth Sheriff Court in December, Grant, 32, was found guilty of two counts of threatening and abusive behaviour.

His solicitor previously said Grant was not sectarian because he used to go out with a woman named after ex-Northern Irish First Minister Ian Paisley.

Sheriff Francis Gill deferred sentence for four months for a good behaviour report.
