A Dundee domestic abuser has been jailed for three years after inflicting “appalling” violence against several victims.
Personal trainer Michael McCash, who was involved with substance misuse group Recovery Dundee, was led away to prison amid emotional scenes at Dundee Sheriff Court.
One of victims left the building in tears after he shouted “change is possible, recovery is possible”, as he was being escorted from the dock.
McCash, 28, of Benvie Road, had pled guilty to repeatedly attacking four women at various addresses in the city between 2008 and 2016.
He held knives to their throats, spat on them, punched them and threw a chair at one of them, amongst other violent offences.
McCash claimed that since 2016, he has been a reformed character, abstaining from drugs and alcohol and was “remorseful” for his behaviour.
Detective Sergeant Gordon Patullo, Domestic Abuse Task Force, said: “Michael McCash is a violent and controlling individual, who committed repeated and sustained acts of violence against multiple partners over a period of nine years.
“His violent abuse was committed against his partners, women who trusted him. However, thanks to their bravery in coming forward and reporting to us, McCash is facing the consequences of his actions.
“We would take this opportunity to reach out to anyone who is experiencing or has experienced domestic abuse; it is never too late to report to the police or seek support and advice from one of our partner agencies such as Women’s Aid.”
