A Fife couple are to stand trial accused of causing unnecessary suffering to a host of animals in their care.
Alistair Jackson and Susanne Iliffe, of Inchgall Avenue in Lochgelly, have pleaded not guilty to three charges of neglect by failing to seek vet treatment for two dogs, cats and rabbits.
The alleged offences took place between August and October last year at an address in Rosyth and at their home in Lochgelly.
The couple, who did not appear in person at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court yesterday, will stand trial later this year.
Defence solicitor Michelle Renton, acting for Jackson, 37, and on behalf of another agent for Iliffe, 35, told the court they were ready to proceed to trial.
The couple are charged with causing suffering to a dog named Zac between September 3 and October 3 at Kings Crescent in Rosyth.
The dog was said to be suffering from a poor body condition and health conditions including fur loss, overgrown nails, flea burden and skin problems.
A second charge alleges the couple failed to seek help for a second dog, named Phoenix, between August 23 and October 31 last year in Lochgelly.
The complaint states that the animal was also suffering from a poor body condition and health problems including skin and ear conditions.
A third charge against the couple accuses them of failing to provide a suitable environment for dogs, cats and rabbits between October 24 and October 31 at their home.
They are alleged to have exposed the animals to faceces, urine, household debris, unhygienic conditions, and failed to provide a clean, dry environment or adequate hydration.
Sheriff Alastair Thornton ordered Jackson and Iliffe to appear in person for an intermediate diet on September 19.
