
The family of a missing north-east man have been informed after a body was discovered on the coast on Wednesday.
As reported in the Press and Journal, police say the discovery was made at Boddam, near Peterhead.
Officers have informed the family of Ruairidh Sandison, who was reported missing on Saturday, August 10.
Formal identification is yet to take place.
A police statement reads: “We can confirm that shortly before midday today, Wednesday, September 18 2019, the body of a man was found on the north-east coast at Boddam.
“Formal identification has yet to place however, the family of 24-year-old Ruairidh Sandison, who was reported missing from Peterhead on Saturday, August 10 2019, has been informed.”
Mr Sandison’s disappearance sparked a major rescue operation in Aberdeenshire.
He had last been seen in the Gadle Braes area of Peterhead in the early hours of August 10.
Police used a drone, a helicopter and dive units as part of their extensive search.
