His last two victories have convinced Dundee United boss Robbie Neilson he has a squad capable of a sustained Championship promotion challenge.
Robbie’s record since arriving at Tannadice early last month reads four wins and a draw.
For the first three games of that run he only had to make one change to his starting line-up but for the successes against Queen of the South and Ross County, injuries have kicked in.
Frederic Frans missed both games because of a calf strain, Callum Booth was sidelined for last weekend’s trip to the Highlands because of a hamstring problem and that game saw key man Fraser Fyvie limp off with plenty time still remaining on the clock.
That saw the likes of William Edjenguele and Christoph Rabitsch called into action and their manager has been delighted with the job they’ve done.
Since day one in the job, Neilson’s said the ability of fringe men to come in and perform well would be a key to success.
“William’s done well for us after coming into the team. Freddy Frans has been great since he came in and William has had to bide his time,” he said.
“I think he had about 10 clearing headers at the end at Ross County, and the same went for Rachid Bouhenna.
“We also had Stewart Murdoch playing out of position at left-back and Christoph coming on and doing a job.
“They are good players and good characters. That’s what we are trying to get, a good culture.”
Yesterday saw the second string fail to qualify from the group stages of the Reserve Cup, despite beating St Mirren 3-2. It means the Tangerines finished on the six-point mark alongside St Johnstone and Hamilton, but behind them on goal difference.
The game was used to give more game time to winger Yannick Loemba and full-back Jamie Robson but otherwise reserve boss Craig Easton fielded a young line-up.
Luc Bollan, an own goal and a Louis Appere strike edged out the Buddies, for whom Jordan Kirkpatrick struck twice.
Meanwhile, to mark 100 years since the end of the First World War, the club have unveiled a new remembrance plaque in memory of United players and supporters who fell during both world wars.
