Dundee United manager Robbie Neilson has made midfielder Morgaro Gomis his third signing of the transfer window.

It will be the Scottish Cup hero’s third spell at Tannadice, his most notable contribution coming as part of the side that beat Ross County 3-0 at Hampden in 2010 to lift silverware.

Gomis, 33, has agreed a deal until the end of the season and, subject to international clearance, could feature in tomorrow’s home Championship clash against Dunfermline.

He also played under Robbie Neilson at Hearts before a loan period at Motherwell preceded two years in Malaysia with Kelantan. A season followed with Sur Club in Oman before he was invited to train with United at St Andrews.

Gomis said: “I immediately felt at home coming back here and I aim to help United get back into the Premiership.

“I think I come back a more mature, better player with more composure and experience and I look forward to playing in front of the United fans again.”

Neilson added: “Morgaro has been in for a few weeks showing us what he can bring to us.

“I know him well from the past but I wanted to judge him on merit as to what he can bring us now. His fitness levels are excellent and he will add competition in the midfield area for us.”
