Latest Dundee United signing Ian Harkes believes his all-action style of football will be a hit in Scotland with the Tangerines.
The 23-year-old, son of John Harkes, who was a star for Sheffield Wednesday and the United States national team in the 90s, has signed a two-year deal at Tannadice.
The American has been a team-mate of Wayne Rooney’s at DC United, where he has been an MLS regular.
Harkes said: “I am excited to get started here at United.
“This is a great opportunity for me, and I want to help this team get into the Premiership.
“I believe my style of play will be suited to Scottish football and I want to get out on the park in a United jersey as soon as I can.”
United’s head coach Robbie Neilson said: “Ian adds quality to our midfield pool and will bring extra quality into our first team squad.
“I know we are getting a good energetic and skilful player and we will now look to get his match fitness up to speed.”
It has been a busy January so far, with Aidan Nesbitt, Cammy Smith and Morgaro Gomis also moving to United.
