High-flying Dakota is AA overall champion at Stirling

Hundreds of farmers descended on United Auctions in Stirling for the opening day of the Stirling Bull Sales yesterday.

In the Aberdeen-Angus contest the overall championship prize went to the senior leader – January 2018-born Blelack Dakota – from the Massie family, Firmarron, Aboyne.

He impressed the judge – David Johnstone, Ballindalloch Home Farm – who described him as a bull with good breed character.

Dakota, who previously stood bull calf champion at the Black Beauty Bonanza, is an embryo transfer son of Netherallan Peter Pershore, out of Oakchurch Darlene.

Reserve overall Aberdeen-Angus champion was the reserve senior champion from Brailes Livestock in Oxfordshire.

This was March 2018-born Schivas Methlick Boy, by Gretnahouse Exocet.

He was reserve male champion at the Highland Show, breed champion at Stirling and Perth, and junior male champion at the breed’s summer national show.

The intermediate champion was March2018-born Tonley Excel, by Nightingale Perry, from Neil Wattie, Mains of Tonley, Alford.

He previously stood champion of champions at Grantown as well as junior interbreed champion at Turiff.

Reserve was April 2018-born Blelack Lord Inferno, by Blelack Banjo Man, from the Massie family.

Junior champion was May 2018-born Brailes Fabulous, by Gretnahouse Blacksmith, from Brailes Livestock, Oxfordshire. Reserve was May 2018-born McCornick Denzel ,by Sakill Dino, from Newton Stewart breeder Martin McCornick. He was overall champion at the Royal Highland Show in June.

In the Beef Shorthorn section the overall male champion was January 2018-born Cherryvalley Oak, by Creaga Logic and out of Cherryvalley Bluebell, from Dr Peter Fitzgerald, Crumlin, Co Antrim.

Judge James Porter, Dromore, Lisburn, awarded the reserve title to February 2018-born Elliot Houdini from John Elliot, Roxburgh Mains, Kelso. He is an embryo transfer son of Sull Cyclone, out of Bodmin Estelle.
