Two taken to hospital following two-car crash which closed A90 for three hours

Two people were taken to hospital following a crash which closed the busiest road through the Mearns for three hours on Monday.

The A90 Dundee to Aberdeen road was shut southbound following a two-car collision near North Water Bridge at about 4pm.

The Scottish Ambulance Service has confirmed that two people were taken to Ninewells Hospital following the crash.

One of the casualties was suffering from potentially serious injuries.

Police, firefighters and paramedics were called to the scene of the incident at the border between Angus and Aberdeenshire.

One person cut free from vehicle and two others injured following A90 crash

At least one person was cut free from one of the vehicles by firefighters from Brechin and Laurencekirk.

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We received a call at 3.57pm to attend an incident on the A90 near Laurencekirk.

“We dispatched our trauma team, three ambulances and our special operations team to the scene. We transported two patients to Ninewells Hospital.”

The fire and rescue service used hydraulic cutting gear, a hose reel jet, small tools and a trauma bag on arrival.

The road reopened at about 7pm.

A diversion was put in place via the A937 Laurencekirk to Marykirk road as the incident was dealt with.

On Monday, police said that two men had people suffered minor injuries during the incident. The nature of the injuries suffered by a third person, who was cut from the vehicle, was unknown.
