If you missed Craig Charles’ sold out visit to the Reading Rooms last year then make sure and head down to Groucho’s to grab your tickets for his Funk and Soul Club, which is returning to the small town club on Friday, November 11.
The veteran actor, host and broadcaster is one of the UK’s best loved funk and soul DJs, broadcasting for over 10 years on BBC 6 Music with his primetime Saturday night Funk and Soul show.

Back to this weekend and Big & Broad welcomes back Disorda who last played at the Reading Rooms as part of the Reggae Hits The Town nights a few years ago. Disorda has been behind the decks and rocking the set since the early 90s, having caught the vinyl bug at an early age and is a regular on the club and festival scene. Entry is £5 before 11.30pm, £7 after and gates open at 10.30pm.
Tomorrow Book Club becomes Spook Club for its annual Halloween party. Tunes will be provided by “Ghoul Stuff” residents Is Kill and Marc JD and costumes are strongly recommended. Gates open at 10pm and tickets are £8 from Groucho’s and residentadvisor.net
Rooms Thursdays this week is Lunacy with an eclectic mix of all things electronic, cut and up and mixed by seasoned selectors with an appetite for carnage on the dancefloor. Gates open at 10.30pm and it’s free entry before 11pm, £5 after.
Number 57 has its weekly acoustic session at 9pm tonight. It’s a Halloween special tomorrow with The Snappin’ Turtles from 5pm followed by The Mess Arounds at 7.30pm, while The Junkyard Dogs are in their usual Sunday slot at 7pm.
Cherry Bombz bring full blast indie rock and festival anthems to Clark’s on Lindsay Street tonight. Tomorrow it’s authentic and entertaining Beatles tribute Revolver. Both start at 9.30pm with free entry before midnight.
It’s Girls Night In at Pre-Production on Thursday. The third in the series of showcases for up-and-coming female singer-songwriters features a fantastic line-up of Nicola Madill, Stephanie Fraser, Pauline M. Hynd and Demi Mcmahon. Cherry Bombz also head across the water tomorrow for a Halloween party at the Masonic Hall in Tayport. Tickets are £10 on the door and it kicks off at 7pm. On Sunday, the pop punk group are unplugged at Anchor Bar in Arbroath from 3.30pm.
McDaniels has Hustler tonight from 9.30pm then tomorrow it’s The Elaine Stewart Band at 10pm.
Headroom are at The Bank Bar tonight from around 9.30pm. Tomorrow it’s The Shrinks at the same time. Songwriters Sunday is hosted by Gavin McGinty with guest performances by local musicians from 8pm. Dave Webster’s open mic is on Wednesday at 8.30pm.
French metal/electronic group Shoot The Girl First are at Firefly (formerly The Vestry) on Wednesday with support from Your Life & Mine and local acts Bereavement and Black Blood.

Fife soul-funk band Lights Out By Nine bring their Edinburgh Fringe show What The Funk to Loch Leven Community Campus in Kinross in a couple of weeks.

The show takes place on November 18 and it should be a great night of soul, funk and rhythm & Blues from the popular band, with support from Dirt Road Blues.
