SPONSORED: Enjoy award-winning Oshibori dishes in your own home

Trying to find quality Japanese food outside of Osaka can be difficult – but one Dundee restaurant has masterfully created a menu full of beautiful dishes that you can even enjoy at home or work.

Oshibori has been a favourite with foodies since it opened its doors in 2014. And when customers started asking about takeaway, owner and head chef Usman Malik paid attention.

“We were getting asked about doing a takeaway service, so not long after we opened we started to provide it for our customers and it’s been a hit.”

From Monday to Thursday, diners can call or pop in with their orders from a specially devised takeaway menu. And on the weekend, they can enjoy dishes from the full menu (with 10% off the price of sushi and other cold dishes). There is also plenty of choice for vegetarian and vegan diners.

“People love our food – they even have taxis come and collect their orders from us!”

Whether dining in the restaurant or taking your food away, every item created by the team at Oshibori uses the freshest high quality ingredients, both sourced locally and from Japan.

Usman added:  “We use local suppliers for all our fresh produce. Our dry ingredients and other products are imported straight from Japan, adding to the authenticity of the dishes.”

Each and every dish is created carefully as a form of art – full of satisfying flavours to charm all your senses.

Usman trained in the delicate art of Japanese cuisine, even going to Japan for three months to learn traditional methods, before opening Oshibori.

He said: “In Japan, restaurants tend to focus on one type of dish – sushi, ramen etc – but here diners expect to get all kinds of Japanese food in one place so I learned how to make it all.”

As well as sushi, the Oshibori takeaway menu includes bento, salads, teriyaki, gyoza and more.

The main menu includes Wagyu and Kobe beef dishes, ramen and the chef’s specials.

The restaurant can even create large platters for big events, such as weddings and birthday parties.

Since opening Oshibori has received a raft of awards and endorsements. Named the best Japanese restaurant at The European Luxury Travel Guide Awards and the only Japanese restaurant in Scotland endorsed by Japanese tourist board to people visiting the country.
