All Dundee and Angus college campuses will be closed on Monday following a cyber attack.

The cyber ‘bomb’ struck every campus on Friday after its systems fell victim to a form of malware.

The specific cause of the issue has not yet been identified.

A college statement posted on Sunday said: “The college experienced a cyber attack on Friday impacting on a number of college IT systems.

“To help us minimise the disruption caused by this cyber attack all college campuses will be closed for all students and open for all staff on Monday.

“This closure covers all classes including college students, school pupils, evening classes and student interviews.”

The Gardyne gym and swim will also be closed.

The Arbroath Helping Hands nursery will be open as usual.

Classes should resume as normal from Tuesday.

The statement said college staff are working around the clock to “resolve these issues to minimise this obvious disruption to students”.

Arrangements will be put in place to support any students to catch up on any work.

The college said it does not believe that personal data has been affected.

A further update will be posted later on Monday.

Principal Grant Ritchie said previously they did not believe the college was specifically targeted.
