Arbroath Fireworks committee are celebrating after passing the £8,000 mark in money raised for this year’s event.
The sum means the event will definitely go ahead — but organiser Karren Cuthill is still hoping for more donations to ensure an even more spectacular display.
She said: “The money we’ve got just now would do a nice little display but the more funds we bring in means more fireworks – it wouldn’t be a longer display, just more of them.
“We are using the same company as last year, 21st Century Fireworks, who did a really good job.
“We have just over £8,000 in the bank but we have already paid out some of the big things like insurance and first aid. We’ve also paid a 10% deposit to 21st Century Fireworks.”
This year’s fireworks will take place on Saturday November 5 at Inchcape Park at 6.30pm.
