A Mearns lifeboat was scrambled on Saturday following reports of a boat in distress.
The Stonehaven inshore lifeboat was scrambled at 3.40pm after HM Coastguard was contacted when onlookers saw a dinghy repeatedly capsize in Stonehaven Bay.
The RNLI volunteer crew helped the sailor and boat back into the harbour by 4pm.
A spokesman for the Coastguard said: “The sole occupant was in no danger but couldn’t get the dinghy to turn back over.”
